What after SLC ?

SLC also known as the Iron Gate for the students is the beginning step of their career. After they surpass this so called Iron Gate they enter to a world where they can find various opportunity and choices. Currently in Nepal, we can find various curriculums that the students can join to secure their future. The variety of these curriculums creates more opportunity for these students. Here are the subjects available in Nepal after SLC :




+2(HSEB)

The curriculum developed by the higher secondary board with the alliance of the government of Nepal. Most of the students get involve in +2 after the SLC. Under this the students can choose three more varieties of faculties. Science: science-lab This subject is most favored subject in Nepal. Science is the base for the students who want to study medical or engineering’s in coming future. Not only that this subjects has broad range and wide areas. The students studying science can go on to any fields or any areas of the study. It’s a two years course. It’s a course designed for those types of students who have interest on technical things. After joining these courses they have broad range for their career. They can become doctors, engineers, nurse, pilot, pharmacist, etc. The government has provided many further studies for the students so now days this course is chosen by many people. Students taking biological group can study medicines and incase they can’t become a doctor they can study B.Sc. in micro-biology, pharmacology, medical technology, genetic engineering, bio-chemistry etc. and the students who belongs to the physical and math’s groups they can take courses of engineering like mechanical engineering, computer engineering, or other different engineering faculties. Students even can switch subjects and go to other fields like BBS, BHM, BSC, BTTM etc.
Management:

Management after SLC Under this faculty the students mostly study about managing different areas. Business studies, accounting, trade etc. are management subjects. It is also a two year course which develops managerial skills in the students. Likewise science English and Nepali are compulsory subjects. Hotel management, computer science, marketing and business math’s are optional subject. Students taking business subjects like accounting and business studies further on can study BBA, BBS. Computer students can go on and study business IT, and the students taking hotel management can further study BHM and BTTM. The aim of this course is to make students eligible for office manager, business owner or corporate employee.

  Humanities:

 humanities after SLC Humanities is study of cultures of people Study of human nature and culture is humanities. Humanities are the mixture of various subjects. Social science, dance, art, music, politics, social work, rural development etc. are the subjects of humanities. The career they have from this faculty is social worker, dancer, singer, literature, politician, etc. 2) A-level students taking Alevel class after SLC This course is affiliated to the Cambridge University, UK. A-levels course is recently gaining everyone’s attention. The student can choose the subject of their choices in a-levels. Thus this faculty has a wide range of choices for the students. They have the opportunity to choose the subjects of their own even different faculty may clash like they can take physics with sociology or they even can take each subject from each faculty. Only few colleges provide a levels in our country but this subject creates more chances to students with its western curriculum and different way of studying.

IB (International Baccalaureate)

It’s a nonprofit educational foundation which was founded in Geneva, Switzerland in 1968. This subject helps to create intercultural understandings between the people. The IB has 3 programs for the students aged 3 to 19. The primary year programs for students aged 3 to 12. The middle years programs for students aged 11 to 16 and the diploma program for the students aged 16 to 19. Ullence Nepal is the only school with this course.

Education


 It’s a course offered by higher secondary schools for the teachers who teaches in primary section. It’s a two year course that give skills and trainings to them. So who want to become teacher they can join this two years course after SLC. The ministry of education even provides teacher training programs for the development of their teaching skills and quality. 5) Forestry Another choice for the students who have completed SLC is forestry. Two institutes in Nepal offer this course. One lies in Hetauda and other in Pokhara. Both are affiliated to Tribhuwan University. This subject helps in forest conservation and force people to mount the environmental degradation. This course provides trainings on forest conservation and management of natural resources.

 Agriculture and veterinary

 The three year diploma is available for this course which is equivalent to +2. The only government college which deals with this course is Rampur campus at chitwan. The Himalayan institute of agriculture and science and technology offers this course for bachelor levels. CTEVT has been providing junior technical assistant (JTA) course on agriculture.

 Sanskrit

 Another option for the SLC passed students is Sanskrit. The intermediate level for Sanskrit studies is called madhyama. Students can find many colleges that offer this intermediate course inside or outside the valley. All these colleges are affiliated to the Mahendra Sanskrit University. Bachelor’s levels for this subject are Shastri and master’s levels are known as Acharya. The subjects that are included in this course are Vedas, Sanskrit grammar, literature and astronomy. This study leads students to Archeology, Astrology, Astronomy, Anthropology etc.

 Hospitality management

 One of the growing fields worldwide is hospitality management. Mainly this course is offered after the completion of intermediate level but also some of the colleges offers diploma in this subject. The colleges like NATHM offers short term courses on waiters, room boys, chefs, travel agents, barman etc. they can develop their career on different hotels and restaurants after the completion of this courses.

 Fine arts

 This course was established in 1903. This subject suits them who are interested in creative things. Students can find various colleges inside or outside the valley which deals with this course. English and nepali are compulsory subjects. Drawing painting and sculpture are also held in this course. Institute of fine arts in ganabahal is a newly opened college which offers this course to students with varieties of choices.

  Vocational courses

 The education that prepares students for a specific trade is vocational education. These courses are offered by private institutions. Plumbing, electrician, computer hardware and software courses etc are taught in vocational courses. Rather than theory this courses gives more priority to practical.
